Delta Phi Mu is by definition a philanthropic
organization. From the very beginning, we have been dedicated
to providing philanthropy and community service aimed in particular
at women, and in general at all people in need. Beta Chapter is
no exception to this legacy, and strives to be involved in the
Southern Illinois community. The ladies of Beta Chapter pride
themselves in their community involvement, and contribute in any
way they can to the upliftment of those who are less fortunate
or merely need an extra hand. The ladies of Beta Chapter understand
that giving back to the community is not only about sparing a
couple of hours a week, but truely understanding the change that
is needed in order to make the world a better place.
The ladies of Beta Chapter devote themselves to performing at
least one large community service project a month as a group,
and participating in smaller projects throughout the month--as
many as one a week. Some of the larger projects include, but are
certainly not limited to: Habitat for Humanity, Southern Illinois
AIDS Walk, Southern Illinois Clean-Up efforts, community dinners
for the under-privileged, Angel Tree, multi-culural fairs for
children, raising money for MS research (with Theta Xi fraternity),
raising money to feed the homeless, making ribbons for Breast
Cancer Awareness Month, and many more. We also embrace the opportunity
to work with other groups (not just Greeks) and individuals, so
if you would like to join us for a project, or want us to join
you, please contact any Delta Phi Mu Beta Chapter sister.
Community service may sound like hard work, but when we work together,
have fun, and learn to make a difference, it makes it all worth
while!
